About the project

The “Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration” project is one of the largest investments in utility infrastructure in the Republic of Croatia. It is implemented with the aim of increasing the connection to the public sewage system, optimising and improving the functioning of the existing public sewage system and increasing the quality of water supply in the area of works. The total value of the project is 233,799,649.88 EUR (excluding VAT), of which 71.33 percent is co-financed by the European Union.

Contracts

The “Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration” project provides for the expansion and optimisation of the public sewage system with the construction of the new wastewater treatment plant. It includes the contracts for the following works:

Rijeka, 7 April 2022 – The new stage of operations in the “Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration” project co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund has been announced. The set of works entitled “Viškovo Expansion” will include the construction of a waste water drainage system and water supply system in the area of Viškovo Municipality (the settlement of Marinići) and the City of Rijeka.

To mark the 29th World Water Day on Monday 21 March 2022, the director of the utility company Vodovod i kanalizacija d.o.o., Mr Andrej Marochini, and the mayor of Rijeka, Mr Marko Filipović, officially opened the exhibition at the main promenade Korzo entitled “The Importance of Preserving Water Resources for the Future: Project “Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration”.

Rijeka, 28 December 2021 – A contract on the construction of a wastewater treatment plant at the Delta location was signed at the Ceremonial Hall of the Sugar Refinery Palace, as part of the HRK 1.76 billion project “Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration” co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund.
