The presentations of the Project, suitable for elementary school students, are held as part of this year’s World Water Day celebrations.

Rijeka, March 22, 2024 – During the World Water Day celebration week, KD VODOVOD I KANALIZACIJA d.o.o. began presenting the project Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration, to elementary school students in the Rijeka agglomeration area.

This year’s celebration of World Water Day is held under the theme „Water for Peace “, and mini presentations of the project were held for students of Primary Schools SEI Dolac, Nikola Tesla, Brajda, and Centar.

On this occasion, elementary school students were also given educational brochures produced as part of the EUPAR project ‘Zvirko and Dobrica for Clean Water’.

All the mentioned presentations were held at the Command Center and pumping station Zvir in order to introduce the student population to the purpose and importance of the Project, and what it means for their upbringing and further life in the community in terms of the importance of preserving water resources. As part of the presentations, students had the opportunity to visit the Zvir water source and experience the unique sounds of underwater listening at the source..

In light of these presentations, the director of KD VODOVOD I KANALIZACIJA d.o.o., Andrej Marochini, stated: „I am pleased that elementary school students had the opportunity to become acquainted with, I believe, a very significant project for our community, its goals, and the importance of preserving water sources for the future of all of us. The implementation of such a comprehensive but crucial project for future generations requires challenging, long-term work in some of the busiest urban locations. Therefore, I would like to thank all citizens once again for their patience so far. Although many parts of the city are currently temporarily closed to traffic, this project will ensure the quality of water services and raise the communal and living standards of the users.“

The presentations were delivered in a simple, accessible manner on behalf of the company KD VODOVOD I KANALIZACIJA d.o.o. by Mateja Sinčić Pisnjak, who emphasized: “I believe it was both beneficial and interesting for our elementary school students to learn more about the importance of water, where our water comes from and where it goes, as well as to become familiar with the Project itself. We noticed that they listened to the presentation of our Project with great interest, which gives us additional strength and optimism to work with new, future generations regarding the importance of water conservation.

The EUPAR project, among other things, focuses on informing the broader public, especially residents of the Rijeka agglomeration, about the activities carried out within the project and the benefits it brings to all residents of the Agglomeration. In this context, one of the project’s goals is to particularly focus on educating elementary school students throughout the duration of the Project. By involving elementary school students in informational campaigns about projects like EUPAR, children learn about the importance of sustainable development, environmental protection, and the importance of community collaboration, which are part of broader educational goals promoting ecological literacy.
