The reconstruction of the water supply and drainage in Adamićeva Street is part of a larger project of Communal Company Vodovod i kanalizacija under the title “Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration“ worth 233,799,649.88 EUR , which is 71.33% co-financed by grants from the European Union.
Considering that in addition to water supply and drainage, the pavement structure and signaling are being reconstructed on this section and the storm drainage system is being built, as in the case of the reconstruction of Krešimirova Street, for this investment a joint procurement was carried out by KD Vodovod i kanalizacija, Hrvatske ceste and the City of Rijeka.
The investment is worth a total of 8.5 million euros, and KD VODOVOD I KANALIZACIJA d.o.o. contracted works with a total value of €6,860,101.35 (excluding VAT).
The company GP KRK d.d. was chosen as the contractor at the public tender, while the supervision service was contracted with the company RIJEKA PROJEKT d.o.o. and amounts to €37,162.39 (without VAT). The term of execution of works is 13 months from the introduction of the contractor into the work.
We are pleased by the fact that the reconstruction of the water supply and drainage of Adamićeva Street, in the amount of 71.33%, is co-financed with grants from the European Union, through the EUR 233,799,649.88 project “Improvement of the water communal infrastructure – Rijeka Agglomeration”, said director Marochini and added that without such financial support, the implementation of such an ambitious project would be extremely difficult, if not impossible.
Non-reimbursable European funds made it possible to reduce the financial pressure on the local community and make financial resources more available for the high-quality and technologically advanced performance of the water and communal infrastructure in the area of the Rijeka agglomeration.
For the extension of the drainage system in Adamićeva street, modern automated pipeline installation technology using the flush installation method will be used, so-called microtunneling, while the work on the water supply, which is shallower installed, will be carried out classically, by digging a trench.
The microtunneling method involves works on the underground installation of pipes that are installed with the help of a remote-controlled and laser-guided, articulated mechanical device with a drilling head with hydraulic support from the pit – pressure station.
In Adamićeva Street, the overall project envisages the construction of 4 entrance pits-thrust stations for the accommodation of drilling rigs for levelless installation that will install pipes with a diameter of 80 cm at a depth of 4 to 5 meters below sea level, and 4 exit pits of smaller dimensions. Considering the complexity of the works, the works are divided into several phases, with the first phase starting on Saturday, June 8.
In the first phase, the works will be carried out on the section of the collector K1 from the connection to the constructed collector in Krešimirova Street, next to the Restaurant Indeks, to the exit on Žabica, and three pits will be constructed to accommodate drilling rigs for levelless installation, one near the Restaurant Indeks the other near the Union House and the third in front of the Capuchin Church on Žabica.
In this first phase of the works, Adamićeva Street will not be closed to traffic, but a temporary traffic regulation will prohibit traffic in the northernmost traffic lane, from Trpimirova Street over the overpass to the intersection of Krešimirova Street with Blaža Polića Street, which engineer Babić, creator of the traffic report, will say more.
With the further progress of the works, changes will be introduced, i.e. phases in traffic regulation, and according to the latest information from the contractor, the closure of Adamićeva Street to all traffic would begin at the beginning of September 2023.
Then the traffic from Adamićeva will be redirected to Riva Street, where there will be a two-way traffic regime. When Adamićeva Street is closed, delivery of goods and shipments for business and private entities will be possible through the side streets: Zadarska, Splitska and Zanonova Street and Ignacija Hencke Street. All the mentioned streets will be open to traffic until the work on the eastern side approach begins, after which at least one of the mentioned streets will be open for delivery vehicles. This will always enable the delivery of goods.
Overall, from the connection to the constructed collector in Krešimirova Street to the exit in Ribarska Street, the project envisages the installation of a levelless transport sewerage collector profile DN 800 with a length of approx. length approx. 270 m, reconstruction of secondary sanitary collectors DN 300-600 mm with a total length of approx. 970 m (at several locations in the work zone) and reconstruction of secondary water pipes DN 50-200 mm with a total length of approx. 720 m (at several locations in the work zone).
Also, at the location between the traffic island and the pedestrian zone of the Jadranski trg, the construction of an underground storm drain “Roda” with associated pipelines is planned. With the above, it will be performed construction works on the reconstruction of the sewage collector in Henckeova Street and the reconstruction of the water supply in Scarpa Street, which is financed by KD VODOVOD I KANALIZACIJA d.o.o. in the amount of €358,398.45 (without VAT). through a regular investment plan.
Citizens will be informed in a timely manner about any possible changes in the dynamics of work execution and traffic regulation for delivery vehicles, so that they can prepare in time, because the works and changes in the traffic regime will certainly have consequences for everyday life and overall traffic in the central city area.
REGULATION OF TRAFFIC: I. PHASE
The first phase of the new temporary traffic regulation prohibits traffic through the northernmost traffic lane, from Žabica to the Restaurant Indeks.
The west-east direction is guided by the southern traffic lane in the part from the Manzonijeva Street entrance, and immediately before the underpass, the existing situation with two traffic lanes is established. The east-west direction on Žabica square is reduced to one traffic lane through the underpass, and the current situation is established on the traffic lighted approach road – Blaža Polića Street
The alternative traffic direction is the “northern corridor” (Žrtava fašizma Street).
